With the rapid increase and development of technology in recent times, popular culture has spread in our lives. Our traditional and cultural games have diminished almost to nothing. Unfortunately, many children have started to move away from the traditions and the perception of the game we had in the previous periods and almost never met these games.
Children’s activities completely leave the body and take a mental dimension. In other words, children’s physical activities have begun to gradually decrease and become weaker since they fit all games on the screens of televisions, phones and computers. In order to prevent this, to preserve the history of our traditional games, and to make our children meet these games, we have our Traditional Games branch in our camps.
In our traditional game branch, there are branches that are different from each other and fun from each other. Games such as skipping rope, pulling rope, blindfold, hide-and-seek games, which are far from technology and require unity, have been prioritized. In this way, children can be found more easily in teamwork, and feelings of unity and togetherness can develop stronger. This enables children to reunite, socialize and make friendships much more comfortably.
Sports races are also included in our traditional games. Sports races consist of parkour games and group games. Children are divided into two groups, there must be at least 3 children in one group. Trails are prepared where children can develop their bodies and mental abilities, and children compete with their opponents from the opposite group, respectively the game. Sports races are among the games that children have the most fun and excitement. Here, children develop their leadership qualities and feel how unity and solidarity is formed. As the children in the group support each other, the children participate in the competitions much more effectively and as they win the competitions, they gain self-confidence. In this way, children learn the importance of motivating each other.
Traditional games and sports competitions aim for children to reintegrate with games that have sunk into oblivion and to play games that are far from technology. Traditional games are met with great interest by our participating children in our camps. Playing and learning new games they have never played before always excites children. Thanks to our different traditional games and sports competitions, children get the opportunity to get to know real games.
